Effective Teamwork through Intentional Leash Handling & Body Positioning
As scent work dog handlers, we strive to support our canine partners’ independent hunting while also ensuring that a search area is covered in the most efficient and effective manner possible. In some training and trial settings, it may be appropriate to run your dog off leash. However in many situations, a handler will choose to run a dog on leash, whether it’s for safety reasons or in order to slow the dog down to keep track of search area coverage. When running a dog on leash, the search can be greatly influenced by the handler in both helpful and unhelpful ways.
This hands-on session will focus on enhancing the search and teamwork through intentional handler body movements and positioning, as well as skillful long line handling techniques. The class is geared for beginner to intermediate levels (those just starting AKC Excellent).

Requirements for participants: Dogs of all ages, training levels (or lack thereof) and temperaments are welcome since we work with one dog at a time. Dogs should be comfortable being crated out of handlers' sight. Participants must provide own crates.

Private Lessons
Location: Waialua
Duration: 45 mins for 1 dog; 60 mins for 2 dogs
Price: $60 for 1 dog; $75 total for 2 dogs
